Say It With Love - The Moody Blues - A Night At Red Rocks With The Colorado Symphony Orchestra (VHS)

Legend Of A Mind 9. Question Ride My See-Saw. This deluxe edition features, for the first time, the entire unedited live performance of the concert.

Includes liner notes by Bill DeYoung. This live recording represents the closing of a circle. With both Mike Pinder and Patrick Moraz long gone, the group is down to a quartet here, augmented by session musicians and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.

The marriage of the Moodies' progressive pop-rock with the Colorado Symphony's elegant accompaniment seems a natural one. With as many hits as the band had behind them by this time, it's hard for the show to be full of anything else.

The twist is that the set is still almost equally divided between pre- and post-comeback hits. The Moody Blues. The performance is as might be expected from such an accomplished group of musicians, and the songs are in the main faithfully recreated. The addition of an orchestra does enhance the overall sound, but they are kept firmly in check in terms of the mix, with the band very much to the fore.

There are some notable exceptions, such as the wonderful orchestral break on "Isn't life strange", which helps to give this majestic song an impressive new dimension.

In all, a good "Best of" package which manages to recreate the original studio performances well in a live environment. The DVD adds a welcome extra dimension to the experience. Better stick to the CD, which I always hear with pleasure. My rating: 5 stars for the repertoire, 1 star at the most for the perfomance. This film was originally released in and as it is stated at the back of the box 'it's been more than twenty-five years since The Moody Blues began weaving their uniquely melodic spell on rock 'n' roll'.

Now it has been another 17 years since this video was released. The set list features songs from the 60's, 70's, 80' and 90's.

The show starts with an overture played by the orchestra alone. Forgot Password? Sign Out. Email Subscriptions. Redeem Gift Certificate. The song selection is standard (or classic) Moody Blues, but the Colorado Symphony adds so much more ambiance. It is not a perfect orchestra, which makes it all the more appealing with a rock band. The booklet contains great information with photos and a thoughtful essay/5().
